The games in Sega Smash Pack are virtually identical to those that were originally released, albeit somewhat watered down. While Golden Axe lacks its cooperative 2-player mode, Sonic Spinball lacked many notable elements. Notably, most of the music is absent, with the Toxic Caves theme playing throughout all levels and boss battles. Furthermore, the options screen and bonus levels have no music, and the remaining music does not loop correctly. The game's sound effects are also either missing or used in the wrong place, and the Chaos Emerald jingle does not stop the main level's music when playing. There are also disparity among other sound effects, which are either quieter than normal or distorted. The graphics of Sonic Spinball remain relatively unchanged, there are also some issues with them, as some sprites appear in the wrong order. In addition, Sonic Spinball is not optimized for the Game Boy Advance's smaller screen, which gives a smaller overview of the levels, which can prove especially troublesome in the bonus levels.
